Mauritius – the island paradise is located 855 km to the east of Madagascar. It’s a year-round holiday destination with a moderate climate. The Sega, a local dance derived from African music and Creole lyrics, leads to a foot-tapping atmosphere on the dance floor that even the most inhibited visitor finds difficult to stay away from. Mark Twain has famously recounted his visit to the island by saying, ‘You gather the idea that Mauritius was made first and then heaven; and that heaven was copied after Mauritius’.
